After months of build up and speculation as to which designer she would choose for her dress, Chelsea Clinton finally walked down the aisle and wed her longtime love, Marc Mezvinsky, wearing a gorgeous custom-designed wedding dress by Vera Wang, who is a family friend and was a wedding guest. Recently released official pictures show the bride glowing in the gown, which was a strapless design and featured a draped tulle bodice and silver jewel-encrusted belt cinched above cascading layers of ivory silk organza. The groom wore a dark, Burberry suit with a simple white buttoner to complement the bride’s ivory bouquet, as well as a traditional Yamaka. The investment banker groom also wore a tallit prayer shawl over his suit while saying the vows.

The bride’s mother, Hillary Clinton, wore a fuchsia gown by another longtime family friend Oscar de la Renta, and Bill Clinton wore a dark suit similar to the groom’s.

An official photo album of sanctioned photos released by the family reveal an emotional and traditionally styled ceremony complete with a wooden, white-flower-accented trellis under which the couple stood while saying their vows. Set in beautiful Rhinebeck, N.Y., the ceremony was performed by both a rabbi and a minister to represent the groom and bride’s different faiths (Jewish and Methodist, respectively). As you would expect from the political family, some of Washington’s heavy hitters were in attendance, including Ted Danson, Mary Steenburgen, Madeleine Albright, and Terry McAuliffe.

Needless to say, security was also tight at the event, and a no-fly zone was established above the property to avoid prying eyes (and paparazzi lenses) in helicopters. Guests were barred from bringing cell phones, cameras, blackberries, or other recording/camera devices to any event relating to the wedding, including the rehearsal dinner, which was held at the nearby Grasmere Farm Estate. The road to the event was also closed off, and neighbors were thanked for the inconvenience with gifts of wine.
Judging by the estimated price tag of $2 to $3 million dollars for the whole shindig, a couple bottles of wine is no big deal!

Overall, it seems the nuptials went off without a hitch (minus the whole getting hitched thing), and I wish Chelsea and her new hubby the best of luck!
