Nicole Richie and Joel Madden have been dating for four years and have two children together. They have been engaged since last February, so their lavish wedding this weekend is not really a surprise.
What was a surprise was the big elephant that was spotted on the estate. While we have yet to hear many details as to how the elephant was involved, we do know the basics of the wedding.
Lionel Richie’s house went under a complete transformation this week (see photos here), and the couple is said to have gone all out for their extravagant, yet intimate event.
The ceremony took place under two tents outside, and the reception had an Old Hollywood, glamorous feel to it. A stage was built on top of the pool for additional dance room, and a large marquee was brought in.
The nuptials took place in front of 130 family members and close friends, including Gwen Stefani, Kris Jenner, and Samantha Ronson (who was also a bridesmaid). Richie’s maid of honor was rumored to be her BFF Masha Gordon, while Joel’s best man was his twin Benji Madden. No word on whether Paris Hilton was in attendance.
Richie wore a custom made, $20,000 Marchesa gown, and famed jeweler Neil Lane, who also crafted Richie’s 4-carat engagement ring, designed their rings.
